Planning Your Stay
Practical information to help you plan your stay and get the best from your time at Lofftwen.
Arriving at Lofftwen
Lofftwen is located just outside Llanwrtyd Wells in Mid Wales.
Parking is available on site at all properties. Llanwrtyd Wells train station is around a twenty minute walk from the farm and connects to the Heart of Wales railway line.
Check-in details and directions are sent before arrival. If arriving after dark, a torch is recommended as outdoor lighting across the farm is kept to a minimum.
Supermarkets including Tesco, Morrisons and ASDA all deliver to the farm. When ordering deliveries, please include both the property name and postcode (LD5 4SN).
Walking & Terrain
The terrain across the farm is rugged and uneven in places, with steep hillsides, rough tracks and occasionally muddy ground underfoot.
Outdoor lighting is intentionally limited across the farm, so torches are useful after dark.
Weather conditions in the hills can change quickly throughout the year, so waterproof clothing and suitable footwear are recommended.
There is good mobile 4G coverage across the entire farm.
What to Bring
Useful things to bring include:
walking boots or wellies
waterproof clothing
torches
warm outdoor layers
slippers for stone and wooden floors
binoculars or cameras for wildlife watching
swimwear for the hot tubs
Sun cream can also be useful during warmer months, and insect repellent may help during summer around wetter ground and woodland edges.
Nature, Wildlife & Dogs
Lofftwen is an ecological restoration project with grazing animals and wildlife across the farm.
Dogs are very welcome, although owners are asked to remain mindful around livestock and wildlife, particularly during spring and early summer.
Grazing animals across the farm include Hereford cattle and Eriskay ponies.
Food & Supplies
Tesco, Morrisons and ASDA all deliver to the farm.
Llanwrtyd Wells has two local shops for everyday essentials, along with pubs, cafés and a bakery within walking distance of the farm.
Nearby towns including Llandovery and Builth Wells provide additional supermarkets, butchers, bakeries and other supplies.
Fire, Heating & Water
Both the Longhouse and Coach House are centrally heated and include wood burning stoves. A starter supply of logs, kindling and firelighters is provided for wood burners and hot tubs on arrival. Additional firewood can usually be purchased locally in Llanwrtyd Wells, which is the nearest place to restock supplies during your stay.
The Longhouse uses natural spring water from the surrounding hills, while the Coach House is connected to mains water.
The buildings also use ecological wastewater and drainage systems, so guests are asked to follow the guidance provided during their stay.
